About Irapuato
Irapuato is a beautiful city of a great industrial and commercial progress; it's located in the heart of the state of Guanajuato. It has its borders in the north with the municipality of Guanajuato and in the south with Abasolo, the city is provided with a solid highways infrastructure, what makes this destination the bridge of many other cities.
Its name comes from the Tarasco “hill that emerges from the big plain". In the past it was an important settlement of the Chichimecas, which were dominated by the Tarascos and these eventually dominated by the Spanish. Because of its central situated location, the city was transited by historical celebrities, across its streets walked armies of Villa, Zapata and Carranza during the Mexican Revolution.
Irapuato has a template climate, mild almost the year, what permits an important development in agriculture, being the most important strawberry producer of the country, reaching international borders and other continents.
It has many museums, antcient temples and spots for the family fun, and night life, it has some events of important tradition, as the famous festival of Eraitzicutzio in May.
